Jeep Wrangler Yj Starts and Dies Start Again Drives Perfect

92 Jeep yj iv.0 runs fine for days and then information technology Loses power for a minute or two while driving and and so revs support. I stay on the gas information technology acts like it wants to stall then it takes off. Any idea what it'south doing?

First with checking the fuel pressure.

Update: trying to figure out why my jeep loses power while I'1000 driving. Drive great for almost 30 minutes, then I feel a "sputter" like it cut off fuel for a second (randomly happens).

I replaced the benefactor rotor and cap. Replaced spark plugs and nevertheless no resolution.

Got a new gas cap, the fuel pressure checked.
No resolution

Afterwards countless searches on reads about similar bug, i stated they changed the fuel sending unit of measurement and another said they replaced the MAP sensor..which both resolved their problems.

I purchased a new gas tank , new fuel pump sending unit of measurement kit, new hose, new vents, new fuel filter and new MAP sensor.

Installing them all at the aforementioned fourth dimension adjacent week. Hopefully this volition solve my problem. If non, I'm not sure where to cheque next.

What temp is the engine at?

How many min does it take for the engine to reach operating temperature? 195 deg??

Does it seem like a certain pedal position?

There are tests procedures for determining the fuel pressure issues.

Might also consider the TPS.

Around town jeep drives fine. On certain day i'll drive 35 superhighway miles one way and on the manner dorsum, (another 35 miles) the jeeps starts to randomly loose power, feels like it looses fuel or "sputters"...i press on the gas pedal and it to act similar its looking power, i downwards shift and then its ok and they randomly does it. Temp remains constant..doesn't alter..unless my thermo doesn't work... I promise i'k explaining it right. I'll look into the TPS once the new gas tank is installed.

Gas tank is being installed next week. I'll post the results.

If information technology seems like a sure pedal position the TPS is failing or actually dirty. Only utilise OEM sensors.

This can also be a clogged true cat or failing O2 sensor, by your clarification.

There are tests to verify some of this before yous spend a lot on parts.

When is the last time regular maintence was complete? Clean battery terminals and ground ends? Modify spark plugs...

Is it nonetheless losing power?

The gas tank installation should exist completed by Monday / Tuesday 02/22 or 2/23, then i'll have it for a looooong test drive. I will post my issue and if the issue was stock-still past the stop of next week.

Picked upward the jeep with all the new parts installed.

Problems: losing power / sputter while driving and fuel gage needle bouncing when less than 1/2 tank.

Both bug solved! Needle is steady and I drove it with no loss of power!! And so far so good.

I'll update on a week.

I drove My jeep for awhile now..and i haven't had the loss of power upshot...however..while cruising to the car wash...i noticed a problem. As I lightly placed my foot on the gas pedal, i notice the similar issue of the jeep wanting to stall / coughing like as if it was clogged and barely getting any gas..but when I add more pressure level to the gas pedal..information technology's observe. And then I fixed the long distance problem but now a take a brusque altitude problem.

JPNinPA mention to bank check the TPS sensor...You were right..i hope.

Picking one up today and installing it: Will mail my results.

Merely utilise OEM replacements or you volition end upwardly buying a new one in a month or then...

jeep ran fine, however 2 weeks ago information technology started doing the same thing. I'g stumped! As I'thou driving the jeep and I'grand cruising along, it starts to lose ability. Every bit I'g accelerating it suddenly loses power and sounds similar an internal frazzle cough / popular, without a loud sound, then accelerates again. I don't know what it is . I accept a replaced everything except for the Cosmic converter and the engine. whatsoever thoughts?

If it's your Catholic converter ....say your prayers!!

If the catalytic converter is clogged it volition be bright red or orange subsequently a short ride with the engine at temp.

joking bated, maybe you have some bad/muddy connections in the wiring? perchance corrosion and some type of crash-land jiggles it plenty that it causes a break in the connection?

i don;t know, is in that location a sensor on the transmission bell housing, like the cherokee and grand cherokee? whats it called, a cps? creepo position sensor?

Didn't utilise OEM TPS, but I only ordered one from Rock Auto (OEM)

Sensors in the bell housing?? I'chiliad not sure, simply I think information technology does. Will expect into information technology.

There is a cam /creepo sensor which I ordered. I ordered the OEM From rock machine. Hopefully that solves my problem. Will post my results once arrived and installed.

FYI a cam sensor CPS is different from a crank sensor CKP.

CPS is a role of a distributor or ODPA , it reads the timing of the cam and sets the firing lodge of the plugs.

CPK is on the bellhousing reading the engine RPM. When this fails your engine cuts off.

Cheers for the info. I've been researching it on online.. it is the CPK.. Looking to purchase an OEM part from Rock Auot or Jeggs. Any suggestions? Hopefully this will solve my problem.

New TPS,
New 02 sensor and
New Cam sensor.
